After nearly 50 years since its original recording, Grupo Um’s exceptional work of art “Starting Point” has finally been rediscovered and released for all to enjoy.
This album signified the birth of one of Brazil’s boldest instrumental groups, who experimented with a fusion of jazz and other musical genres. Despite their innovative sound, the band faced challenges in securing a record label for their debut project. Consequently, the master tapes were stored safely in the archives of the group’s keyboardist, Lelo Nazario, where they remained untouched for nearly five decades.
